I rediscovered my passion for doing art as I gradually retired from children's mental health nursing. Joining classes at the wonderful Northlight Art Studios in Hebden Bridge, I found that I loved the variety of possibilities presented by printing. I began to explore making monoprints and monotypes.
I finally left the NHS in 2019 and around that time I moved into a studio space at Clarke Holme Mill in the Rossendale valley, with Valley Artists Studios. It's a cold, leaky, old mill building, but a wonderful space to do my work. This has introduced me to an exciting local art scene, with many wonderful local artists.
My works are loosely based on local landscapes or trips around the country. They grow from my love of the natural environment...the trees, undergrowth, hills, valleys, riverbanks and canalsides I see everyday.
I prefer to vary prints, even within an edition, and like to add watercolours, pastels, pen and ink or other materials to a final print.
